Anambra: Courts can’t stop supplementary election — Umeh on November 21, 2013 at 7:58 pm in Anambra Elections BY CHARLES KUMOLU Awka— CHAIRMAN of All Progressive Grand Alliance ,APGA, Chief Victor Umeh, has dismissed claims that the upcoming supplementary election in Anambra State can be stopped by a court order, adding that the courts can not intervene until the exercise is concluded. He also said his party was not scared of participating in the supplementary polls, insisting that APGA had the highest number of votes. Umeh, who said this in a chat with Vanguard, insisted that the conduct of last Saturdays exercise was devoid of irregularities.  Victor Umeh A break down of the result in possession of Vanguard, noted that APGA scored 25 per cent in 16 Local Government Areas, LGAs, even as it maintained that the party secured 25 per cent of the valid vote cast in 18 LGAs. According to him, “we have the highest number of votes, we have achieved the spread. The election can not be cancelled. For those who are thinking about court injunction, the courts can not stop the election until it is concluded. The three of them can not change the will of the people.” The breakdown of the results indicated that APGA won in Aguata, Aynamelum, Anambra East, Anambra West, Anaocha, Awka North, Awka South, Dunukofia, Ekwusigo, Ihiala, Njikoka, Nnewi South, Ogbaru, Onitsha North, Onitsha South, Orumba North and Orumba South. Also, the PDP candidate Comrade Tony Nwoye had similar percentage in the following LGAs; Anyamelum, Anambra West, Awka North, Dunkofia, Ekwusigo, Njikoka, Orumba North, Orumba South and Oyi
