Anambra YSFON Team Hit Oslo Anambra State team of Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON) on Sunday departed the shore of Nigeria to the Norwegian capital, Oslo in the search for top honour at an international football championship. Commissioner for youth and sports in the state, Dr. Edozie Okey Aroh said the team left late for the competition, which started same day of their departure, simply because the embassy of Norway delayed in issuance of entry visas, which he disclosed they eventually got on Friday night. While confirming that he is head of the delegation, Aroh said he cannot explain why the visas were delayed, but expressed hope that the team would be able to do the state and Nigeria proud during the competition. To qualify for this competition, the Anambra State team beat all other Nigerian opponents at the 2013 YSFON National Football Championship, and the state governor, Peter Obi has promised to reward the squad if they do well in Norway. On his part, the commissioner, who was expected to join the team Tuesday night, maintained that the state government cannot be blamed for the team’s late trip to Norway, but also said he is confident that they will do well and make the country proud. “Nobody will blame the state government for the team’s late departure, since the Norwegian Embassy delayed our visas. I cannot explain why they did that. Maybe they wanted to sabotage our efforts, but all the same we thank God. “I want to assure Nigerians that our team will do well and will not disappoint Nigeria because we are going there to prove that our qualification for the fiesta was not a fluke, we will do our best to win laurel for Nigeria,” Aroh enthused.
