Anambra governor Willie Obiano to dump APGA for PDP Following his emergence as the governor of Anambra State few months ago under the platform of the ALL Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), reports have it that Willie Obiano is set to dump the party and join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). It was learnt that the governor’s planned defection to the PDP is linked with the bitter rivalry between him and his estranged God father and former governor of the state, Peter Obi who two weeks ago resigned as the Leader and Board of Trustees Chairman of APGA possibly in preparation to jump ship and decamp to the PDP. Obi is reportedly scheming to use the members of the Anambra State House of Assembly to impeach Governor Obiano. Sources say most of the state lawmakers under the platform of APGA are also finalising plans to defect to PDP alongside Peter Obi when he finally decides to. This will put them in the majority in the House of Assembly, thus making it easy for the governor to be impeached. Aware of the moves, the governor is also said to be planning to defect, this will put him in the same party with the lawmakers and thereby making the impeachment move difficult. A Government House source has said that some PDP top shots in a closed door meeting allegedly held in a hotel in Awka, told the governor that consequences awaits him if he decides to remain in APGA. They were also said to have presented some documents to the governor detailing some fraudulent activities he and his party, APGA perpetrated during his short stay in office which will serve as the basis for his impeachment. The source said PDP top shots gave the governor a deadline to defect or face being ousted.
