Anbum Sivamum irandu enbar aRivu ilaar. Anbe Sivam aavadu yaaarum aRrikilaar. Anbe Sivam aavadu yaarum aRrintha-pin anbe Shivamaay amarndhu- irundhare. Love and God are two separate (distinct) things, so say who lack (this) knowledge (not having this realization, those that are impervious to truth); that love itself is the one that becomes Sivam (God – goodness), no one knows not (not cognized); (that) love itself becomes God (attains divinity) – anyone having “known” this, love is God is how that one is seated/situated (once they realize that love and God are one and the same, they themselves remain as love). By the simplest of words Thirumoolar imparts the noblest of thoughts. Thirumoolar makes the most profound declaration - that love is God, the first of its kind, and holds the banner high - the unity of humankind and God. Saint Thirumoolar’s time period, according to legendary accounts, is about 3,000 years ago.
