Ancestors and ancestral worship are two different things: A careful look at the facts will reveal that, every man and woman on this planet has ancestors. Before you kill me, here is a definition of ancestors. An ancestor or forebear is a parent or (recursively) the parent of an ancestor (i.e., a grandparent, great-grandparent, great-great-grandparent, and so forth). Ancestor is any person from whom one is descended. In law the person from whom an estate has been inherited.[1] Two individuals have a genetic relationship if one is the ancestor of the other, or if they share a common ancestor. In evolutionary theory, species which share an evolutionary ancestor are said to be of common descent. (Wikipedia) However, ancestral worship is a different matter: This is a deliberate intention to either reach the favor of God, the Creator, through the means of ancestors, the dead and departed relatives. Amongst many cultures, this is commonly believed to be a possibility, depending on ones background and level of information or misinformation. However, the Bible excludes reaching God through the dead, as a possibility. Actually, it is a sin before God, the Creator of Heaven and Earth. Isaiah 8:19 Someone may say to you, “Let’s ask the mediums and those who consult the SPIRITS OF THE DEAD. With their whisperings and mutterings, they will tell us what to do.” But shouldn’t people ASK GOD FOR GUIDANCE? SHOULD THE LIVING seek guidance from the dead? 20 Look to God’s instructions and teachings! People who contradict his word are completely in the dark. 21 They will go from one place to another, weary and hungry. And because they are hungry, they will rage and curse their king and their God. They will look up to heaven 22 and down at the earth, but wherever they look, there will be TROUBLE and ANGUISH and DARK DESPAIR. They will be thrown out into the darkness. (Emphasis:mine) 1 I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask GOD TO HELP THEM; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. 2 PRAY THIS WAY for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by GODLINESS and DIGNITY. 3 This is good and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth. 5 For there IS ONLY ONE GOD and ONE MEDIATOR who can reconcile God and humanity—the man CHRIST JESUS. 6 He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone. This is the message God gave to the world at just the right time. (Emphasis:mine) If for some reason people choose to follow the way of ancestral worship, they better know that there are consequences. 1. TROUBLE 2. ANGUISH 3. DARK DESPAIR 4. UNTOLD CONSEQUENCES, INCLUDING BEING REJECTED BEFORE GOD, AT DEATH. CHOOSE WISELY, JESUS IS THE WAY, THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE. NO ONE CAN GO TO THE FATHER EXCEPT THROUGH HIM. (John 14:6)
