Museum is full of Bangladeshi Culture and heritage. There is a place where u can buy heritage ZAMDANI Shari in cheap price “ Part of the Ancient History of the country ” Sonargaon is now a ruin remains right outside of the Dhaka District. It is still within the area of Dhaka Division. If you like ancient towns and into photography, you will certainly love this place. You could take bus from Saydabad or Gulistan bus station and it should not cost you anything more than (BDT 100 (U$ 1.20). Once you reach there you would see the ruins of the palace and residence of the ancient rulers of Bangladesh who are known as the 12 Bhuiyans. There is a replica of Taj Mahal which is an added advantage of visiting this place. There are good food stalls in that area and caters good food but is a bit overpriced. I forgot the ticket price as we entered in a large group. “ Avoid the Biryani ” I only had the mutton biryani which was served with an accompaniment of mutton curry. While the mutton was well cooked, the biryani was almost like steamed rice and the curry was overloaded with inions. “ A historical and cultural place ” This area has a great historical value.. and has been made as one of the center place of folklores.. including a museum. There is an ancient town beside called Panam Nagar that looks like a old abandoned town with lots of beautiful centuries old architectural wonders...! “ Pleasant Place ” The museum part of Sonargaon was fine, nothing I could really brag about. About 3 average size floor of artifacts, certainly needs to invest some money into the upkeep of the place. Walked around the grounds, pleasant walk. Nice place, I could go either way with the worthiness of visiting. “ An ancient city with a rchaeological value, architectural beauty mixed with rich culture ” An ancient city with archaeological value, architectural beauty mixed with rich culture. The place is well known as Panam city, the ancient capital of Bengal that build in the middle of 13th century. It was best known for the famous Muslin fabric. You will like the immense beauty and by the ruins of buildings and relics that date back to the era of Bengal. The Folklore Museum is another attraction, for those interested in historical and archaeological relics, which have been unearthed from Sonargaon, the Jainal Abedin Museum is a good place to visit. You can still see the intact shrines and the Tomb and an example of a Moghul Palace and an old museum. These two buildings are located on beautiful grounds with lots of birds, trees and plants, a pond and a number of sheltered walks. Old Sonargaon is a wonderful city to visit. “ Stunningly beautiful ghost town, with almost no visitors around! ” Sonargaon (or better: Panam City) is a MUST when you visit Dhaka. All the buildings are stunningly beautiful and make you travel back in time (and wonder how life would have been for the rich merchants living in them). Its not possible to go inside the buildings (because some of them are inhabited again as well) but walking through the streets alone is quite and experience. Its an easy/short bus ride from Dhaka and then a 2km walk (or short tuk tuk ride) to the sights.
