Ancient civilizations used mythology to try to explain things that were beyond their understanding. At one point, there actually WAS a great flood on the Earth and thats why we have the story of Noah. But its also why we have the stories of Utnapishtim (Babylonian), Manu (Hindu), Deucalion (Greek), and many others. (All of those characters build boats btw.) The lessons I take from these stories are about the brevity of life and maximizing the precious time we have. Oh, and listening to that crazy voice in your head. It might be God, Gilgamesh, Vishnu, or Prometheus.
