Ancient #statue sheds light on #Han #Opera master A 200-year-old wooden statue of Mi Ying Xian, a highly influential Han Opera performer from the late 18th century, has shed light on this mostly forgotten precursor to Peking Opera. The precious heirloom belonged to a family in Hubei, who have generously donated it to a local museum. Though crafted about 200 years ago, the statue has, over the years, been well cared for in the family’s ancestral temple.
