And Eli′sha sent a messenger to him, saying, “Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh shall be restored, and you shall be clean.” But Na′aman was angry, and went away, saying, “Behold, I thought that he would surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the Lord his God, and wave his hand over the place, and cure the leper. (2 Kings 5:10-11) Have you ever prayed for something and not received what you thought you would get? There are times when we pray that we are not actually asking to understand what God wants us to do as much as we are asking for permission to do what we want. We have to always remember that we are God’s creation and not His advisor. If we really want to do His will, we have to be willing to do whatever He wants – even if it seems a little strange and maybe degrading. After all, if Jesus could manage to humble Himself by taking on flesh and dying on the Cross, who are we to think we deserve better.
