And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. There are times in life when one wonders why things are what they are and it feels like we are alone and without hope. It is at those times when the words of scripture bring comfort to our spirit. There is nothing that can separate us from His love but every power of hell tries desperately to convince us that God does not care and that He has abandoned us to suffer alone. The devil will tell us that the reason we are going through the trial is to punish us for something we have done and that if God loved us He would never allow the pain and anguish we feel. The truth of what trials do for us is found in these words from Paul to the church in Corinth; He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. Understanding and believing the word of God with His perspective brings hope and encouragement found no where else. When we have gone through a fight for life we are able to speak with authority and true compassion to others who are going through what appears to be a hopeless situation. Right now I am fighting such a life and death battle and I know that the reason is to know Him better and to experience His comfort so that I will be better equipped to comfort others. No matter the outcome of the battle the war is already won and we will trust our God. He is able to deliver us from all alarm and bring us comfort in our journey through the valley of the shadow of death. There is no fear or power of hell that can take our hope. The valley of the shadow is nothing more than a shadow, it is not reality. We know that for a shadow to be cast there has to be light, and to the light we will turn. We will not walk toward the darkness but stay focused on the source of the light and walk steadfastly in His direction. The battle is the Lords......
