And I couldnt have said this better myself. I had a surgery in - TopicsExpress

And I couldnt have said this better myself. I had a surgery in October 2013. The nursing staff gave me the wrong pain medication after my surgery. It was a muscle relaxer for another veteran. I was in EXCRUCIATING PAIN for 2 hours in the MEDVAMC before I had to call SECURITY! Just to get appropriate medication for pain after they cut me open and did an old fashioned way to fix an inguinal hernia. I now have a 6 inch or longer scar when the procedure could have been completed in a much less painful fashion. Also of note is the VAMC medical director at the Houston VA, or his staff, canceled an AUDIENCE meeting regarding the use of a tinsure (sp) with medical marihuana oil to treat migraines and tbi and other ailments for veterans. Why canceled after a four month wait? I can only presume its because this is Texas and marihuana in any form is not legal here in Texas. If a veteran comes up with marihuana in their system then automatically they are labeled as a habitual hallucinogenic ABUSER! Hence I dont use it. My point though is that if a veteran Ina state where it IS legal to use as a medicine or recreationally, those veterans are allowed to in a state where its legal from a private health care provider. But the VA will NOT prescribe cannibinol for veterans at their clinics or hospitals because its still against federal law. Theres the EXCELLENT health care the public thinks we veterans get. Its bullshit. The VA gets medicines in bulk at a discount so the meds a veteran gets are the lowest quality that can get by FDA approval. The reason veterans put up with this is because a lot of major regional veteran hospitals are TRAINING hospitals and a civilian wouldnt put up with the bullshit that we do. We literally have to fight for our healthcare and at times a parking spot to get it. Would a normal and reasonable person drive around in a hospital parking lot or any mall or dept store parking lot just to get in the building then get what you need after waiting 3 or more hours to get it? Hell no. No reasonable person would as long as theyre not a veteran at a VA medical center. The only FREE parking in Houston is at the VA medical center. THE SURROUNDING HOSPITAL STAFF AND STUDENTS TAKE PUR FREE PARKING IN DOWNTOWN HOUSTON AS IF THEYRE ENTITLED TO! But they are not. So veterans drive around for hours looking for a parking spot or we can get VALET parking and let a stranger enter and park our vehicles. And not one VALET that Ive ever seen is a Caucasian. Who knows if some have jumped border crossings. Theyre never gonna park my car. EVER. Especially just to decrease my search for a parking spot by 1 minute. Veterans MUST FIGHT FOR THEIR RIGHTS TO HEALTHCARE IN SO MANY MORE WAYS THAN ONE. UNLESS YOURE ON SOME HEAVY TRANQUILIZERS, its a nightmare to deal with. No civilian would ever put up with it and we need more WHITE COLLAR lawyers and ATTORNEY GENERALS within each state to take the VAs to task and SUE THEM on behalf of their state veterans, AND MAKE THE VA ACCOUNTABLE FOR THESE ALOMST MORE LIKELY THAN NOT CRIMINAL ACTS. Thanks for reading and please help make this go viral. Respectfully, JAMES DAVID ALLEN, resident of HOUSTON, TEXAS WITH 5 HONORABLE DISCHARGES, no criminal record ever and a Cold War AND Persian Gulf War veteran.
