And I quote Yet the once-packed grandstands were about one-third - TopicsExpress

And I quote Yet the once-packed grandstands were about one-third full. Maybe tickets are too highly priced ($70-$84 for the top tier), maybe the overcast weather on Sunday morning hurt the walk-up (or maybe the fact the racing hasn’t been very good the past two years is the culprit.) Hmmm... yah think? Before Price-line, and others were popular. I always had the theory, that I would rather fill my plane, hotel, etc.. for some money, rather than no money. What good is a empty seat on a plane, or empty rooms at your hotel. Some will always pay full price. But getting at least something, rather than nothing has always made more sense to me! If it was my stands at Milwaukee IndyFest, or I was Andretti marketing. I would much rather have 40,000 fans at $30.00 a ticket, That comes to: $1,200,000 gross, rather than have 18,000 fans turn out as they did on Sunday at $80.00 each and make: $1,440,000 gross. So you lose out a few thousand dollars overall. Sponsors, promoter, concessions etc.. will all recoup that money by now freeing up fans wallets, for food, drinks, souvenirs, hotels, fuel, etc.. As well sponsors, advertisers, etc..will be much happier seeing the stands full, instead of being half empty on race day. Thats just my thought. Whats your?
