And I thought Tony Scott was a B-movie director when I first watched this in a theatre in Quezon City in 1986. Watching it again on Blu-Ray DVD at home on an early Good Friday night made me realise the talent of Scott, especially in action movies, and the potential of Jerry Bruckheimer as producer later of Hollywood blockbusters.Tom Cruise in this movie was already a big star, and Val Kilmer (both I had met in interviews for Manila Standard Today at different occasions as a journalist) showed a lot of promise. I think this movie made beach volleyball a trend, somehow.
