And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also. And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron, because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them.(Numbers 20 vs 11-12). It is instructive to observe that God told Moses to speak to the rock so that water would be released. God gave a definite instruction to Moses on how He wanted the miracle to happen. He instructed Moses on how the result(water) was to be achieved. God outlined a process by which he would give Moses and the Israelites the water they so desperately wanted. Moses eventually disobeyed Gods instruction, yet water came out of the rock. Moses acted contrary to Gods commandment and expectations, yet he got the result he wanted. Moses subverted Gods order, but despite the gravity of his error, he got a result. Notice that after Moses used a wrong process and got the result he wanted, God stopped him from entering the promised land. He disobeyed God and got an immediate result, but his destiny was truncated. Friend, hear Gods warning to you: Disobedience to God may allow you to achieve good results in the short term,but it will leave you with a disaster of a life time. When you make progress despite all your wrong doing, be careful, you are going down a slippery slope at an alarming speed. NEVER MISTAKE YOUR CONSISTENT ADVANCEMENT IN LIFE AS AN ENDORSEMENT FOR YOUR BAD HABIT. The results you get through wrong doing or despite your wrong doing could leave you with negative consequences that will hurt and haunt you forever!
