And Oh Yes! I Have Scored a Hockey Twig! I am delighted to have my favorite emblem of passion back in my life. While maybe now I can skate TWICE as fast as an amoeba undergoing osmosis, it sure feels good to hold it in my hands. I havent broken anything yet in my flat, but I promise to let you know when that happy day occurs. A friend is now trying to get me a puck. As there are no pro shops in China, one must do things through Guanxi. Yes, even in hockey, one must have connections. Since the floors in my flat are all marble, that may be a perfect practice surface for improving my stick handling. Im sure the neighbors below me will be suitably amused. And for those of you who are just dying with curiosity, the correct way to say hockey tape in Chinese is jiao bu. Thats sticky material. Hockey is so basic here that when I asked to buy some, the answer was, Your stick is perfectly fine. You dont need it. Oy! And before I sign off for the night. I had a lovely 100 minute skate on SUNDAY and even enjoyed 10 minutes being solo on the ice. Funny how all my inner dreams of attacking the net come out when theres nobody watching.....Anyhow, the rink was heated to 70 degrees! My flat is cooler than that. OK, sweet dreams everybody!
