And Samuel said unto him, The LORD hath rent the kingdom of Israel - TopicsExpress

And Samuel said unto him, The LORD hath rent the kingdom of Israel from thee this day, and hath given it to a neighbour of thine, that is better than thou.1 Samuel 15:28 AND HATH GIVEN IT TO A NEIGBHOUR OF THINE, THAT IS BETTER THAN THOU BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Isaiah 11-12 When the children of Israel requested for a king, the Lord gave them a perfect king who was head and shoulder above everyone in Israel.1 Samuel 9:2 says and he had a son, whose name was Saul, a choice young man, and a goodly: and there was not among the children of Israel a goodlier person than he: from his shoulders and upward he was higher than any of the people. Saul was a genius. He was super intelligent and full of wisdom. Physically, he was tall and handsome. The moment Samuel presented him as the king, the bible records that, the people were very happy to have him as their king, they began to shout and say “God save the king”. If Saul was alive today, he would have won the Time’s leader of the century award because he had every attribute a leader should have. When he messed up, God replaced him with a young boy. Not only that, He said the young boy was better than him. 1 Samuel 15:28 says And Samuel said unto him, The LORD hath rent the kingdom of Israel from thee this day, and hath given it to a neighbour of thine, that is better than thou. This clearly points out that God does not see as humans see. One may wonder, how a young boy could be better than a king. If one compares David’s heart after he sinned and Saul’s heart after he disobeyed, one will understand why God said David was better than Saul. When Samuel rebuked Saul for disobeying God, his responses was “I have sinned: yet honour me now, I pray thee, before the elders of my people, and before Israel” (1 Samuel 15:30). He didnt show any remorse for his sins. All he cared about was how the people perceived him. On the other hand , when Nathan rebuked David for killing Uriah and marrying Bathsheba, he said “I have sinned against God” and broke down (2 Samuel 12:13). Before God, our heart is more important than our physical or mental qualities. This is why the Lord says our beauty should not come from outward adornment such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of our inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight (1 Peter 3:3-4). God rated David more than Saul because he had a humble heart. Anytime David sinned against God, he would break down in tears. Saul on the other would be giving excuses for his sins. Although Saul had fame, money, status, influence, etc, God preferred David because he had integrity and was honest. QUESTION: If God were to search through our hearts, what will He find - pride, hatred, anger, envy, jealousy or love, kind, patience, mercy? Bro Samuel – Reaching the world for Jesus.
