Dear Brown Girl Collective, With the recent unrest with all that is going on surrounding the Michael Brown killing, my 11 year old daughter is hurting. She is hurting because shes a brown girl, with brown brothers that can be gunned down just like Mike Mike, Trayvon Martin, Jordan Davis, Sean Bell, Renisha McBride and countless others. She has a brown father who could have died just like Eric Garner and its scary for her. My husband and I have always taught our children to use their voices...to stand for something. Well she is doing just that. She recently asked me if I would record her sharing her thoughts, her feelings, her deepest fears, in hopes of sparking people to take action. I would like to use your platform to reach the masses. After watching her video, I hope that you feel compelled to share her video on your FB page. This generation needs us. Trinity is a child actor, recently landing the role in Oprah Winfreys movie Selma, directed by Ava DuVernay, as one of the four little girls that was killed in the 16th Street Church bombing. It was a role that really humbled her, as she placed herself in the shoes of those little girls and she had a hard time believing that somebody could do such a thing.
