And another precious new resident at Twala. This young female reed - TopicsExpress

And another precious new resident at Twala. This young female reed buck is now recuperating at Twala after breaking her leg. She was being hunted on a farm near Harare and broke her leg as she tried to flee the hunters. Ellen Ciampi went to great lengths to rescue her, somehow managing to get the buck, AND her dogs that she had been walking, into the car and rushed to the 24 Hour Vet where the buck was operated on immediately. She had an old, badly healed break on the leg as well as a severe new fracture and there was no option other than to amputate the leg. She is doing really well at Twala - getting around with astonishing agility and is very bright eyed despite her traumatic experience. We have named her Ellen after her rescuer. Laura, the duiker rescued last week with a broken leg is also doing well.
