And another update for residents on the proposed extended works - TopicsExpress

And another update for residents on the proposed extended works along Wobaston Rd: Dear Councillor, The highway improvement scheme on Wobaston Road is due to begin this Autumn. The £3.6 million project will provide a significantly improved transport route for residents and businesses, supporting the i54 South Staffordshire development and Pendeford Business Park. The scheme will complement the highway improvement work currently underway at Vine Island. The project, which is part funded by the Department for Transport’s Pinch Point fund, will be undertaken in 2 phases. Phase I will begin this Autumn and will include improving the junction at Pendeford Business Park and the creation of a new footpath/cycle lane as far as the Droveway. Phase II will include widening of the road between Patshull Avenue and Vine Island to create a dual carriageway, an improved traffic signal junction at Patshull Avenue and completion of the footpath/cycle lane from The Droveway to Vine Island. It is anticipated that this phase of work will begin in Spring 2014. Residents and businesses in the area will shortly receive an information leaflet (deliveries are due to start on Monday and a copy is attached for your information). Some residents in Redhurst Drive and Winchester Road whose properties back onto Wobaston Road, will also receive a letter (this is also attached for your information) advising them that we would like to visit them to discuss any concerns they may have about the carriageway widening creating additional noise. The offer of installing additional glazing may be considered to be an appropriate course of action. Access along Wobaston Road and through the area of works will be maintained during the construction period as most of the work will be undertaken away from the existing carriageway, allowing us to reduce disruption and keep the road open at the same time.
