: And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God (Romans 12:2). The Bible in Basic English, a modern translation, puts it this way - And let not your behaviour be like that of this world, but be changed and made new in mind, so that by experience you may have knowledge of the good and pleasing and complete purpose of God. From this scripture, it seems to me that God is completely displeased when His children behave no differently from the world. The primary loyalty of every Christian must be to the Lord Jesus and not to the world, or any system or any personality, or any denomination for that matter. While it is true that it is the responsibility of every Christian to do all in his power to reconcile the world to the Lord, it is important that we do all things without compromising our loyalty to our Sovereign, the Lord Jesus. But todays church, todays pastors, and todays Christians are doing everything possible to please and satisfy the world. The Christian is dressing to please the world. The pastor is preaching to please the world in the name of being seeker-friendly. Our choirs no longer sing to worship God or bring the congregation into the presence of God, but rather sing to entertain the unbelieving world in the name of attracting them to the church. We now pattern our churches and package our services to suit the purpose of the world. A pastor once said that the world is changing, and the church has got to change with it. Another said that the world is moving, and the church must not be left behind. What is really disturbing in all these is that we seem not to care anymore if God is pleased with what we are doing and if our loyalty to the Lord has not been compromised. But I tell you dear friends, a wind is about to blow that will blow out the dust within the church, and blow the church into order. I urge you all as individual Christians and as a Church, the Body of Christ, to return to Gods order for the church and for our lives as His blood-bought and blood-washed saints. Like the scriptures say, if we judge ourselves, we will not come under God’s judgement. But if we wait for God’s judgement to sort things out, we may not be in a position to tell the story. ~ NB.
