And finally, to conclude this top ten of my favourite classic rock - TopicsExpress

And finally, to conclude this top ten of my favourite classic rock tracks. I think we all knew it was going to be by Rush, (overlooked by Scot), but which song? I actually changed my mind last night, while listening to Neil Pearts audiobook (Traveling Music: The Soundtrack to My Life and Times). Obviously it could have been any of 100 songs through the years: By-Tor, Limelight, Red Barchetta, 2112, Time Stand Still or Freewill. Until yesterday I was definitely going for Closer to the Heart (the live version on Exit Stage Left. We were there and got a credit in the sleeve notes (a special tribute to the Glaswegian chorus for background vocals on Closer to the Heart...) However, my number one is the first track that turned me onto Rush - their big breakthrough single Spirit of the Radio. I loved it immediately then, and hearing it live a few years ago, remembered what a great song it is. Its about listening to music while driving, something close to my heart (ahem). Maybe its the easy choice, but I cant see past it now. Begin the day with a friendly voice, A companion unobtrusive Plays that song thats so elusive And the magic music makes your morning mood. Thanks to Scot for suggesting I do this, its been great fun, and Ive enjoyed the nostalgic chat its provoked. I look forward to hearing what Simon Knight has in his list, and continuing the conversation! I nominate Sandy Sandy Learmonth to follow on with his list. youtu.be/QuL_euRslTc
