And from the sea came freedom. Thirty two years ago today, like the first rays of sunshine of the morning striking the shore, light, hope and freedom touched the first part of the Falklands and step by painful step slowly spread across the whole land until after 74 dark, hopeless days of oppression and despair, freedom, hope and a future was restored to the Falklands. We the people of the Falklands will never forget or stop being grateful to those, military and civilian alike who gave us back our country, those who paid the ultimate sacrifice in doing so, those who suffered injury and the families who were left behind in various countries not knowing what was happening to their loved ones. We owe you all a debt that we can never hope to repay. Hopefully by continuing to strive to make the Falklands a place that has a sound future we can make our Islands a living testament to those who gave so much to return them back to us.
