And here is a short overview of the past year for the Orange Standing Committee! SCOPH standing for Public Health within IFMSA October 2013-September 2014 2 General Assemblies, 5 Regional Meetings, 6 Subregional Trainings and Workshops, and Global outreach through our Yahoo and Facebook groups, and personal emails - SCOPH has surely been out there working to educate our members on a range of Public and Global Health issues while also effectively improving Health for our communities all together. In this past year SCOPH has finally established its very own International Workshop on Developing Leadership in order to raise Future Public Health Leaders with the pre-March Meeting and pre-Asia Pacific Regional Meeting Workshop. SCOPH Regulations have finally been established in order to provide the Standing Committee, its Director, Liaison Officers, International Team, but more importantly National Public Health Officers with suitable tasks descriptions and basic requirements - all of this is pushing SCOPH into becoming better with each passing day. Regarding communication, SCOPH has increased its outreach through the two major channels - SCOPH Facebook Group and the SCOPH Yahoo Group. While the first one started with about 3000 members, it has recently broken the 7000 members barrier which thoroughly shows the increased interest in the work of the Standing Committee. With our Publications - The SCOPHian (as part of MSI), the E-SCOPHian (monthly newsletter) and Letter to LPOs we have surely increased outreach to local and national representatives of the Standing Committee. Related to Community Outreach, SCOPH Members have surely made a difference on the local and national level, having organized hundreds of different events, activities, workshops and projects, and thus becoming SCOPHeroes. On the international level, we would like to point out some of our past, current and upcoming interventions, such as the World Tuberculosis Day celebration, the Joint effort with the European Federation of Psychology Students Associations on reducing Stigma of Mental Illness, the Joint efforts with the International Veterinary Student Association on increasing Rabies control around the world while supporting Interprofessional collaborations, to name a few. Finally, it is important to note the completion of the IFMSA Reform which has led to the removal of IFMSA Projects and introduction of IFMSA Programmes. SCOPH as one of the biggest Standing Committees, covering over 37 basic Health-related topics, will continue working hard in assuring effective outreach of our members and their activities not only on the local and national level, but also to the world. “The river swells with the contributions of the small streams – small acts can make a global difference!’ Petar, Altagracia, Manon, Marwa, Mohamed, Ivana, Wonyun, Arthur, Skander.
