And here is the avowedly non-violent counterpart to my commentary on Beinarts article in the Atlantic about Charlie Hebdo. The debate about direct action vs negotiation or working within the system follows pretty much the same lines as the debate over whether to only target the state and its agents or a broader swathe of society with violence. (The difference being that in this case my commentary IS in fact an endorsement of direct action.)
