And here we are at last... my choice for the #1 song of the year. - TopicsExpress

And here we are at last... my choice for the #1 song of the year. It came out early, and Ive raved about it all year. Ive probably posted it two dozen times. I was so impressed by this single, I even tried to *book* them in Springfield for an April show, and almost did (they jumped on a bigger tour and routed through StL instead). They have gone from playing shows for a dozen people to selling out a 600 cap venue as headliners between the start and end of this year and are doing a brief headlining tour in January (if Vico wasnt due literally the day after their StL show, I would be there with absolutely zero hesitation and bouncing off the goddamn walls). And then theres this song. Its punk and full of raw energy, but its also spiked with just enough of the current alt-rock sound in the chorus to steal fans of much lighter bands. The lyrics are obviously deeply personal, but vague enough to mean whatever you take from them. The themes are universal and delivered with unfiltered angst. It is, plain and simple, not only the best song of this year, but the best tune since 2011. And it doesnt hurt that the best song of the year also has the best music video of the year. I cant help but imagine this is what a show by this band looks and feels like (minus some of the bodily harm... but only some). Ladies and gentlemen, what I consider the best song of 2014: Reservoir by Pup.
