And heres another one. I was trying to learn the words to Danny Boy because synchronicity has thrown it in my face a lot lately and mostly I wanted to know what came after the words ..and down the mountain side which seems to be where everybody cuts it off whenever it pops up. So, I went hunting a good version to post (of the billions) which proved WAY harder than I thought, because even the artists I thought would kill it (Elvis, Johnny Cash) really didnt. The words are there, the passion is often there, but the melancholy nature of the song coupled with the fact that many artists seem to think this particular song is some sort of competition to see who can sing it the absolute slowest almost drove me insane. Anyway, eventually, I found some folks arguing in the comments of the Slim Whitman version (which was almost the one I went with) about their favorite rendition, which led me to this dude, Hank Locklin, who is about as un-irish sounding as it gets, but when he hits the notes around the minute-twenty mark this dudes voice turned into a church bell and I finally understood why grown men have crying at this song for a hundred years. https://youtube/watch?v=QTtTg1Bw36E
