And in case anybody wondered, this is probably my favorite Replacements song. There are informal polls making their way among the various fan pages. A few outcasts concur with me, but not many. Is it because I have to buck trends and be different? Nah, its because the song is so brilliant and unappreciated. And on the album version, I swear I can hear Bobs guitar crying. Yes, I do... I have other almost-faves, and evens the hits hit me. Im realizing now that the tough part about all this reunion stuff is how all these people come seemingly out of nowhere and start appreciating the things you lamented--and pointed out--as overlooked and worthy of fame and fortune and *top 40 sing along at a show* status twenty-five years ago, because then you sighed and wished for it. Now, you protect your treasured specialness and your clairvoyance. The truth is I cant abide the popularity and dissemination nor especially the singing along by more than about 5 people. So there, youve got it.
