And in keeping with the restoration theme today, I am getting the finishing touches done on this ca. 1850 Plateau pony beaded dress I re-built. The original looks like it was heavily water damaged, and someone decided to cut off the stiff leather and sleeve ends. Something I dont advise, as it can be surprising what damage may or may not be able to be brought back. As long as the collagen in the leather is not damaged, water hardened hide has a possibility to be saved. There was only one trouble spot I could not really re-shape back in the shoulder without it coming apart. But close to done….just adding the thongs on the skirts, and later the bead dangles under the yolk and sew up the sides. I am happy to be bringing this back to life :-) Before and after…...
