And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads (Revelation 9:4). Although God has allowed Satan to release the locusts from the abyss, God himself is still in command, and God limit’s the locust to the extent of the damage, which they can do, and who they may sting. God has given the locust, of Revelation, a specific command. He commended them to do what any ordinary locust would not do. The locusts are not allowed to eat grass, trees, nor any green vegetation that they find on the earth. From this statement it would seem that they would previously, and ordinarily, have eaten whatever an ordinary locust would eat. However, God has forbidden them to eat the natural foods of a locust during this time. Their assignment will be to hurt the men who are alive upon the earth. The Greek word for mankind is used here, which is (ἄνθρωπος), pronounced “anth-ro-pos.” This sometimes includes women as well as men. Those people, who do not have the seal of God in their foreheads, will be the targets of the locusts. The chosen, elect, individuals that God had set aside for Himself will not be stung by the scorpion-like-stinger of the locust. It is also very possible that the mark of the beast may contain a chip, or something that attracts the locust to the ungodly. The ungodly will be the people who will be stung by the locust, the Tribulation Saints will not be stung. Ordinary locust were often used as a food for human consumption, read Mark 1:6, but these locust will bring fear to mankind. God has sealed His chosen people and the locust are commanded not to hurt God’s children. God will not forget His Saints and He knows who we are at all times. The Bible is very clear that; Nevertheless, the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his; and, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity (2 Timothy 2:19).
