And now, Pappu wants Jains to be declared a minority - which they are. At 0.4% of the Indian population, they are a clear minority. However, the community has 94% literacy and contributes 24% of the income tax collection of India. In this context, it is no way justifiable to declare them a religious minority and treat them on par with other economically disadvantaged groups. I hope better sense prevails and the government declares a special category for them (and Parsis and jews too, perhaps) that would allow them to preserve their culture and religion without eating into extant employment or educational opportunities, and without the benefit of reservations.
