And now in English! This Pergolesi piece of music is undoubtedly a master piece, but it’s this particular interpretation of it that perfectly shows the interpretative nature of music itself. Listening to any version of it one can look into what Pergolesi would have had in mind, but listening to this interpretation it jumps into a different musical category. Guided by the late, and already missed, Christopher Hogwood (1941-2014) this piece transcends all formal limitations. Kirky sings with no tricks, a natural lady singing, nothing more nothing less. Her voice is of a purity that does not even resemble or suggest purity (what a feat!). Bowman with an incredible mastering of everything, and not simply technical, one can even hear him cry here in more than one occasion. Three great artist accompanied by a group of instruments played by musicians that are completely tuned to what they have in front of them. Whoever can listen to all this and not want to be better, simply has lost a piece of soul! I myself cry thinking that so many people today receive educations where they adopt tastes and forms from which they will ignore any art form that requires even a minimum effort for the appreciation of the richness of music. Who could not cry (so many!) seeing so many miss, and being foolled out of, such a universe as this! And to think this piece of music was written by a man that died at twenty six! I wonder if he even got the chance to taste some of the real joys of life … https://youtube/watch?v=X23QFnl3dbU
