And now, just you watch: Mr. Obama will sign it. For years now, some of us have known what the GOP figured out years ago: the GOP has Mr. Obamas number -- it knows the formula for extracting a capitulation, over and over again. All the GOP has to do is threaten something worse than what Mr. Obama is expected to give up, and the incumbent in the White House will cave. So, it is no surprise that Mr. Obama actually lobbied Democrats in the House for this odious funding bill, as amended, that puts American taxpayers back on hook for bailing out the banks for gambling with our money. His buttons were pressed, yet again, by a savvy GOP that knows how to advance its agenda, in the face of a diffident opponent, who, even 6 years out, remains unable and unwilling to directly appeal to and rally the electorate to act and be loudly heard to advocate in its own best interests on a pressing issue to benefit the common good. Its sad, perhaps even pathetic, but true nonetheless. We are now only left hoping for the improbable . . . that the eviscerated Democratic party may someday become again the champion of the people.
