And now, my own list of hail and farewells. They might not have - TopicsExpress

And now, my own list of hail and farewells. They might not have been celebs, but they were bright and shining stars in my world. First, there was Bonnie Peacock Fogel. She was my lover and my friend. She had the mystical talent to calm my rage with a gentle, all knowing look. She would send me into gales of rib aching laughter with her obtuse observations of the passing parade, and as such, taught me the value of finding humor in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps the greatest gift she gave me was the ability for me to get out of self, and be there for others. It is almost a year since she has gone, but the the sting is still somewhat fresh. I said good bye to my old college chum and fellow actor, Tom LeVesque. The dude had enough energy to light up most of North Texas. We kept telling each other we had one more show in us to do together. We were both adept at procrastinating. Then I said adios to fellow actor, teacher, and director, Jerry Russell. That one almost brought the whole DFW theatre scene to a halt. Then, there was that grand old man, Zelmer Phillips. Artist, actor, Hip Pocket hooligan, and all round great guy. I still say, when I grow up, I want to be just like him. And, oh, the school chums I bid farewell to. Linda Nabors Green. How I miss her charming smile, kind words, and unmistakable silly laugh. Sallie Youngblood, who always amazed me with her keen intelligence, deep love of art, and way out sense of humor. Then there was Kathy Trice Tapley. How sad we were to hear that The little one who was a favorite sprite spirit of ours at EHHS in the early 70s had lost a gruelingly brutal battle with cancer. She and I first met when we were 7th graders at the now defunct Gateway Theater. She went to Meadowbrook Junior High, I went to St. Rita Catholic. We remained friends ever since. Now, there is a good chance I may have left a name out that we all mutually knew and loved. And that may be because, as I have said on more than one or two occasions, The Good Lord really cleared out the jail this year. Oh, my, yes. 2014 really was the year for death. I dont know about you, but I have had it with death. My hope and wish for each and every one of you, my dear friends, is that 2015 is a year of births, and growth. A year of LIFE!
