And officially thats all folks! Last day of mechanics completed! I started my trade on the 27th of may 2002 and retired from the tools today the 18th of August 2014. I feel humbled that I have an exit, as I know many who havent figured out what theyd prefer to do. Like most of us in the trade, I never completed high school and its easy to be stuck in a rutt because of that fact. But at the end of the day if what you do for more than 38 hours a week doesnt bring you joy, and career advancement is not an option for you I say this whole heartedly, stop complaining and focus on what you can do for similar money outside of that profession. I have left the trade qualified and highly skilled, the funny thing is that I have taken on a job that requires no training for the same money. Sad when you think about it, someone who is in charge of the safety of many is not financially renumerated for the skills that keep Australia safe and moving. Anyway as they say on to bigger and better things!
