And since todays theme is C-section, we want to share some - TopicsExpress

And since todays theme is C-section, we want to share some interesting information: A few parents have recently called us and reported a remarkable happening: They went for their childs admission to a Waldorf school in Hyderabad. One of the first questions they were asked: Was your child born by a C-section? If so, they are told that it can take upto 7 years to correct some of the sensory-motor deficits; specifically, these babies have not exercised their own WILL to come out (to be born), so until age 7, they would need to work on that specifically. And, they are given specific exercises to work on that. There is only one study till date that talks about some connection between brain growth boosting proteins (the area of the brain which seems to be affected is important for long- and short-term memory) and C-sections, and this is an animal study. So, we at Healthy Mother, are not reporting what the school is doing as a sensational information. Nor are we saying that this is essentially evidence to say that all C-section babies fall short in some way, or that this means that C-section is always bad. It is just interesting to know that at least some schools, with their own research and teaching methodologies are beginning to recognize that there may be some differences between children born vaginally and children born by C-section. Here is the study relating brain boosting proteins and C-sections: news.yale.edu/2012/08/08/natural-birth-not-c-section-triggers-brain-boosting-proteins
