And so begins 2015 with the first release, “Waltz on Channel - TopicsExpress

And so begins 2015 with the first release, “Waltz on Channel B” and in it there is a rhythm change between a waltz you could easily box step to and a common time you would have to throw a hesitation rhumba step. My intent of #musicyoucandanceto and this rhythm change was very much on purpose when I was writing this song; with my intent being to have the music imitate life a bit with the changing channels and times associated with the characters in the song; a #waltzingmatilda type of attitude. The lyric touches on that feeling of being totally alone and intimate with someone, even if only for brief stolen moments. And in the secrecy of stolen moments there must needs be rhythm surprises – in fact often in romance such surprises are the things you look back upon later as being most precious. And young lovers are often #beingtested that way. In the studio, rhythm changes like this can be a pain in the rear, and there is always the temptation to avoid them or re-write them (i.e. simplify it), but I generally insist such things remain; if it was good enough for coffee house performances as it was then there should be a way to rehearse it and built teamwork with a band to enhance it rather than simplify and dumb it down. With enough effort, “Waltz on Channel B” found many added pieces via the studio and I am glad of the way it sounds now. Enjoy, and God Bless, Ed Verner
