And so...my Williamsport neighbors...Sisters of Christian Charity Convent turned into luxury apartments???!!! Now, its right across from my house, so I have a vested interest here, but is luxury apartment living what we really need more of in Billtown?? One comment on SunGazettes website was the nuns would be turning over in their graves! I agree! We already have luxury apartments in Williamsport and those arent filled. My Democrat side coming out, but what we need here is apartments for the people who dont qualify for Section 8 and cant afford LUXURY. Id love my 20 yr old to get an apartment, but he can afford the rent/expenses even with friends! Ill be at City Council meeting Thursday at 7:30 to express my thoughts! Beyond that....the health system, in agreement with the Sisters when the hospitals combined, conceded they would never sell the property to a for-profit entity. George Hutchinson just happens to have a non-profit division and that who the system will sell the convent to. Do you really think Hutchinson is going buy the convent, sink $3 mill into it and not expect to turn a profit?? Something fishy in our fair town!!!
