And still they come..... this week we had a really enthusiastic group of ecaners in to take a look at the park (and listen to me for 2 hrs). They had stayed over night at Mahaanui 2. There were some familiar faces and plenty of new ones (I have been away from ECan for nearly 3 years) I feel so positive when I see these good people. Wednesday and today Ronan, assisted deftly by Sioniann, carried out the microscopy lesson for Tuahiwi and Woodend Students. We had three students and a teacher from Kaiapoi Nth School along for Wednesdays session and I am pleased that they are our latest biota node school, welcome. Thank you R&S, fantastic lesson, enthusiasm and feedback. Rex organised the placing of 25m3 of Ap65 at the ocean outfall on the walking/cycle trail. We will run a roller over it next week but that means no wet feet in that area. Mark R was in and it is clear he is going to be a major asset to the Trust. Cathy and Kate were in and the result of that catch up will be an upgrade to our website and hopefully a park guide. Thank you for your time and commitment to our wonderful park. Other visitors were Grant and Leigh who were out today setting up the chew cards for the possum research trial. Signs will be up prior to us starting any control work. Te Marino was also in today to discuss the progress on the Te Reo version of our biota node lessons, we will be making these available as a download on our website in the near future. John Crofts is down from Mahia so I am really looking forward to catching up with him next week, Annabelle from Doc is close to starting the mudfish in schools, Enviro-leaders camp is less than a month away and our three volunteer rangers have a day of training next week. Me I need a haircut and to get out on my guzzi. Have a wonderful week and I will upload some photos from the week in the next day.
