"And that brings us to the heart of the matter. Authoritarian governments like their subjects to keep quiet and do what they are told. It’s for the subject’s own good, they insist. Our rulers in Washington would love nothing more than for us to act like “walking corpses,” dead to the idea we are “endowed with certain unalienable rights.” Who needs freedom when all wants and needs are provided by infallible, all-powerful government elites? That was certainly the justification for the existence of Soviet Russia’s ruling oligarchs … even if they said so themselves. That fiction died, along with 27,000 Russians and citizens of neighboring nations exposed to lethal levels of radiation that seeped from the secretive bureaucratic blunder known as Chernobyl. Obama wants to plug whistleblower leaks to hide government incompetence and wrongdoing – like Solyndra, the Benghazi talking-point lies, NSA domestic spying and IRS targeting. A so-called free people won’t know what Obama’s secretive government has in store for them until, like Chernobyl, it blows up in their face."
