And the sons of the Prophet that were at Bethel came forth to Elisha, and said unto him, knowest thou that the LORD will take away thy Master from thy head today…” (2 Kings 2 vs 3). That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional Today. Today’s Focal Scripture introduces a set of Prophets-in-training who were at Bethel. These trainee prophets had a chance to join Elisha to receive a part of Elijah’s anointing, but they didn’t move an inch. They were comfortable in just remaining at Bethel without making any further progress. Their contact and stay in Bethel (House of God) didn’t even propel them to move forward to new heights. Friend, when you come into the House of God, God’s aim isn’t just to excite your sensibilities; His aim is to propel you to greater heights. God doesn’t speak His word in order to make you more knowledgeable; He speaks His word so that the Word can transform and empower you to transform your situation. It is an error to encounter God regularly and remain at the same spot from year to year. Don’t treat your encounters with God as a jamboree. Use every word you hear and every Divine encounter as a platform to make progress. Pray with me, “Lord, may every word I hear and every encounter I have with You push me forward in Jesus name”.
