And then, theres this... Ive been using and app called TimeSheet2Go for about 3 years, now. It has been essential in my daily work. Its a very well put together app that allows you to input your time, via a calendar and clock, so that you can invoice it at the end of your work week. The concept is unique in that there has been no app that makes the process so simple in a graphic sense. Then, today, without any prior warning or notice, the the apps functionality to create and invoice and then send it as an email has suddenly ceased to work. Mind you, this is a paid app, and all of the components are made to work client side, so theres no connection to a server or website to make it work. This is a huge inconvenience, if not a total disruption to the way I do business. There is no sign of the former website, and no indications as to what happened to it. The parent company, Invoice2go has changed their website and doesnt even mention their apparently former secondary app. Unlike Microsofts MS Money, they have taken away the usefulness of the app altogether. At least with Money, theres a sundown patch that allowed you to keep using the program without the online support and other server side features. In short, this is the reason we cannot rely on app creators to give us tools that we can safely put our trust and full reliance in. There is absolutely no real ownership of the program that you download for use. There is no obligation, on the part of the app creator, to inform you of changes, or discontinuation of their product. It is less like a CD that you buy at the store, and more like your favorite ice cream flavor that will only last as long as they continue to make it. Now, I am no stranger to supply and demand, and I understand the principles of capitalism, but there used to be a value held by those who provided a service to the public. That used to be called appreciation. I just feel wronged. I paid for it, so how can you take it away from me?
