And they continued steadfastly in the apostles doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers (Acts 2:42). 1) The foundational content for the believers spiritual growth and maturity was and still is the Scripture, Gods revealed truth, which the apostles received and taught faithfully. We must receive and teach faithfully as well. 2) Fellowship literally means partnership or sharing. Because Christians become partners with Jesus Christ and all other believers, it is our spiritual duty to stimulate one another to righteousness and obedience. 3) The Breaking of bread is a reference to the Lords Table, or Communion, which is mandatory for all Christians to observe. We must remember what Jesus did for us on the Cross and his death and resurrection. 4) Also, individual believers and the church must offer prayers to God regularly! There is power in our prayers!
