And to those hailing and seeing nothing wrong with Mr Nuhu Ribadus defection to the PDP, I say to you, una well done o. You see, it might take centuries before we are able to build strong political institutions and reliable politicians in Nigeria. In 2011, even when all indicators showed how impossible it was for the ACNs Ribadu to win the presidential election, some of us remained adamant and canvassed for him to the last minutes. I shouldnt mention the series of clashes we had with people from Buhari and Jonathans camps. Vote for ACN. Vote for Ribadu. We screamed for almost two months. Not bothered that it was a Muslim-Muslim ticket. As long as it was the partys final decision, we were going to abide by it. We knew Nuhus chances were slim, but we were optimistic, supporting him so we can boost his chances in the next [2015] election. Yes, Nuhu Ribadu has served Nigeria diligently well. His defection to the PDP, however, does not make sense to me. What has happened to the man who vehemently debunk such thing-- when rumored sometime in April? Is Nuhu now saying that PDP is the better alternative? His defection is an insult on the campaign-effort we rendered his candidacy in 2011. I am disappointed. A presidential candidate of the opposition defected to the ruling party. Students of history would hiss, whenever they read about this in future. Theres a silly argument; follow the man, not the party. Nonsense. So, why did he defect then, if we aint minding the parties? Fela Kuti, Gani Fawehinmi and Wole Soyinka all floated political parties at different times. Their frustration and desperation for change, perhaps, led to this. Unfortunately, none of these parties recorded victory at any election. Did Fela, Gani and Wole defect to the ruling party at any time, because they wanted to serve at all cost? NO! They remain[ed] in the opposition, till they breathe[d] their last! When you dont stand for something, you will fall for anything. My PDP neighbors have been mocking me since Nuhus defection. I do not blame them. Well, I wish Mr Ribadu well. Beht, e pain me sha.
