And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him... after he had made it a molten calf: and they said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt...And they rose up early on the morrow, and offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play. Exodus 32:1-6 These verses are parallel to Matthew 24:49-51: And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken; 50 The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of, 51 And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. The children of Israel became impatient in waiting for Moses and in turn became idle. They were tired and weary and turned their focus off of God and started to worship what the people of the world worshiped. Thats what happened to some members of the ancient church and its happening again in the present church (Ecclesiastes 1:9). The same way Moses seemed to delay his return to some in the church, is the same way how itll seem that Christ will delay His return to many in the church. Some will and have become idle and went after the things of the world. They even replaced the sacrifices of God (praying, worshiping, thanksgiving and etc.) with the sacrifices of idols (work, parting, friends, spouses, family, stars and etc. -Exodus 32:6). We must stay focus on Christ and not faint because the finish line is just ahead of us. #StayFocus
