And why should there not be a guaranteed base income for every Australian? Every Australian contributes in some way to the wealth of this nation - one of the wealthiest nations on the planet. Kevin Andrews says 1 in 5 Australians receive some income support. This includes age pensioners, invalids, people who are chronically either mentally or physically ill, those born with congenital conditions that narrow function in any way, people unemployed through no fault of their own who are over 50 etc. A labour market that is weighted for employer choice disqualifies many people from employment. It does not disqualify them from social contribution. We pay those politicians to run this country for us. They should share the wealth that we pay them to generate. The money does not belong to the politicians.
