Andre Young aka Dr.Dre speaks at USCs commencement address and all hell breaks loose because he spoke at an institution thats not an HBCU. Sean Diddy Combs accepts an invitation to speak at Howard Universitys 2014 Commencement Address, and students protest because he did not graduate from college. Not to take anything away from the students who protested Diddys scheduled Commencement Address but HU became a destination for hip hop culture because of the affinity Diddy has for this school. I bet every student who is protesting Diddy has enjoyed 4 years of HU homecoming parties without complaint. Aside from being one the most successful Marketing, Entertainment, and Branding genius of this generation, Diddy also came from nothing and now ranks as one of the wealthiest artists of this generation. Hes the definition of hard work, dedication, and a couple of other words he coined and gets paid for every time it gets used #voteordie. Hes a great example of how school can shape you for great things in life. A piece of paper does not define who you are. My final point about this ridiculous propaganda by students to tarnish a persons reputation is , Duke Ellington did not attend Howard University, neither did he graduate from High School. He rejected a scholarship to go to college, and actually dropped out of high school to pursue a career in music which included bouncing around from one city to another in pursue of his dream. And not only is he considered a legend for generations to come, but The Duke has an honorary degree from HU. All three men share great examples of overcoming adversity.
