Andrew Christopher Barrett, 26, of North Kentville was released - TopicsExpress

Andrew Christopher Barrett, 26, of North Kentville was released from custody Monday on a $10,000 recognizance with strict conditions of house arrest. Barrett’s parents deposited $5,000 cash with the court and pledged another $5,000 in personal property. Members of the Halifax Regional Police-RCMP Internet child exploitation unit arrested Barrett on May 23 after receiving a complaint that someone was trying to arrange a meeting with a child under the age of 12. The Crown opposed Barrett’s release. A bail hearing was held Friday in Dartmouth provincial court, with Judge Frank Hoskins reserving his decision until Monday. The judge ordered Barrett to remain inside his parents’ home on Nichols Avenue in North Kentville except for legal appointments, treatment programs and four hours every Saturday for personal needs. At least one of his parents must accompany him on those outings.
