Andrew Rebori was a prominent Chicago architect who came to the Philippines and wrote an article called The Work of William E. Parsons in the Philippine Islands for the April 1917 issue of Architectural Record. He thought highly of the work, which includes the Manila Hotel and Philippine General Hospital, but he thought particularly well of Paco Station. The Paco Station, aside from its excellent design, is an important structure, marking the culmination of Mr. Parsons career as Government Architect for the islands, he wrote. Paco Station is in an exceptionally sorry state today, but not sorry enough that it cannot be repaired and restored. The earlier decision to demolish it was a mistake, but we must not be imprisoned by our mistakes. The demolition was not completed, and the damage can be repaired. A restored Paco Station would signal an intellectual milestone for all of us.
