Andrew Snitko, 18 years old, soldier of battalion Azov, an orphan from the village Manevichi, was killed in the battle for Ilovajsk, covered grenade by his body. Man was buried in his native village. There was a callsign of young fighter - Homa, he was the youngest in the Azov. Died on August 20 during the attack of our volunteer battalions on Ilovajsk occupied by militants. The name of this village will sound from the TV speakers around the country a little later, and we will know that the Ukrainian intelligence was wrong - lightly armed battalions’ fighters would go to the assault of the real fortified area. Young boy died, covering by his breast a grenade thrown by a group of militants in the Ukrainian soldiers. - Homa came to us at the beginning of the ATO, then we were still semi-legal formation, - says Kombat of Azov Andrew Bielecki. – Good man, an orphan, but he never complained about his life. Often smiled. Homa made friends with Aksen, one of them from the Western Ukraine, the second – from the Lugansk region, they always kept together. In the battle for Ilovajsk they were also together as part of the five combat... We jumped on the detachment of fighters, then flew the grenade, to hide there was neither the time nor the opportunity. Someone had to lie down on a grenade to save his comrades. Homa did this, the youngest in our battalion. Died immediately. In the same battle, his friend Aksen also was killed. Kombat of Azov said that if Homa wouldn’t have done that, there were killed all five at once. - This is a war, but when these young guys die, the heart is breaking - says Bielecki. When the war came to Ukraine, Andrew Snitko left the University: he volunteered for the front. His former classmates still do not believe in what happened with Andrew, who recently went with them to lectures as all students. - He was short, looked younger than he actually was, - says about the Hero Victoria Kruchkovskaya, who studied with Andrew. - Confident, always was a leader. He loved to joke, loved to laugh. Remember, we celebrated my birthday with my friends, he was the one guy among the girls, but he perfectly joined our company: joked, carefully listened to our girly talk, advised something... The fact that he was an orphan, I knew only after his death, he never even mentioned. Maybe he was shy, or maybe did not want to complain, and behaved like a real man. ...The coffin with a young soldier was covered with Ukrainian flag. Brought in Lutsk, where thousands of people came to say goodbye to the young patriot. Then he was buried in his native village Manevichi. - Andrew was my classmate - says Victoria Bubnyuk. – He was always ready to smile, to support... I revise photos, almost everywhere he smiles. I remember a funny incident. In junior school, we decorated the Christmas tree. Andrew came up with that Christmas-tree toy was a microphone, and he was a journalist. And he asked us all the questions, how would we celebrate the New Year and what presents would parents give... Mom raised Andrew alone, without a father, and when the boy was in the fourth grade, she died. Raisa took the custody of the boy. - He studied at the University, then the Maidan began, he went to support Ukrainians - sighs Raisa. - And when the war came to our country, Andrew went to the military draft, asked to be a volunteer. One day I got a call from the landfill in Kiev, Andrew said that in three days he would go to the ATO area. I cried, asked him not to do this, said that I would come and take him away... He said, Mom, do not come. I have to protect my country, it is my duty as a citizen of Ukraine. Im sorry that I didn’t tell you... I still have his stuff, they still retain the smell of my son. In Manevichi they plan to rename the school №1 in honor of the ATO Hero Andrew Snitko. Information from depo.ua/rus/life/pogibshiy-geroy-ato-18-letniy-sirota-spas-chetveryh-nakryv-03092014185900
