Andy Oblad is the best candidate for Tooele County Sheriff because of his Integrity, Experience, Courage and Education. Integrity- Andy is a man of his word. He consistently does the right thing. Currently the Internal Affairs Sergeant at SLCPD where the officers and the administration trust him. In addition to his IA responsibilities, Andy is a member of the Peer Support Team and believes in leading from the front and accountability. Experience- 18 Years SLCPD working in Utah’s busy capital city in many assignments including: Patrol, Motors, School Resource, Downtown Bike Patrol and Investigations. Andy has been a supervisor for over 8 years mentoring and teaching hundreds of officers. Andy is a Leadership Instructor for SLCPD. Courage - Instrumental in stopping the gunman at Trolley Square in 2007, Andys courage under fire saved lives and earned him the Medal of Valor. Due to his unique experience, Andy has been able to travel to other police departments across the country to teach active shooter training and consult on training videos for Portland Police Bureau and In the Line of Duty. Education- Andy earned the Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice Administration from Columbia College. He also graduated from IACP’s Leadership Academy.
